Salher improves its compact drinking water treatment plants with membrane technology: ultrafiltration
In recent years, the use of membrane technology in water treatment has increased in order to obtain higher quality permeate water. Salher offers an extensive catalogue of compact purification plants using ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membrane technology.
Salher designs and manufactures high efficiency ultrafiltration systems, for compact drinking water plants and as a pretreatment in reverse osmosis processes, complying with the R.D. 140/2003 regulations and the World Health Organization recommendations.
Salher ultrafiltration compact water treatment plants
The ultrafiltration membranes used by Salher have a pore size < 0.1 micron, allowing the removal of suspended solids, organic matter, turbidity, pathogenic microorganisms and certain metals. In addition, they allow a low and consistent sediment density index (SDI) to be achieved.
The vertical ultrafiltration modules Salher works with are made of high-strength PVDF hollow fibre membranes with an external-internal filtration system. The most significant advantages of the out-in flow design of these plants are the following:
- Higher range of tolerance to inlet water turbidity than in plants with inside-out filtration.
- Higher hydrodynamic resistance.
- Greater chemical tolerance.
- Less fouling, less clogging and therefore a constant operating pressure for a longer time.
- Larger flow area.
- Greater cleanability with lower reagent consumption.
- Longer life of the ultrafiltration modules, resulting in lower operating costs.
Another aspect that makes the Salher ultra-filtration system so safe is its cleaning system, based on a combination of selected cleaning reagents and a suitable cleaning protocol depending on the nature of the dirt. This has led to a longer durability of the membranes, less system downtime and, in short, less OPEX.
Salher drinking water treatment solutions
Salher’s engineers work to ensure their customers a constant quality of filtering and reduced investment and operating costs, standing out for their personalised and continuous relationship over time. All our plants are adapted to the customer’s needs, allowing fully automated control of them. Thanks to this, today we can speak of Salher as a reference company in ultrafiltration systems.
