Salher develops sustainable solutions for the treatment of industrial wastewater
Industry is one of the human activities that generates most polluting waste. Treating industry’s wastewater properly is essential to control its environmental impact. Salher creates tailor-made solutions for the treatment of industrial water.
For the treatment of industrial wastewater, biological treatments are often chosen to remove organic matter (BOD5), suspended matter (SS) and polluting nitrogen. Salher’s low-load activated sludge biological treatments are treatment plants that remove organic matter and colloidal solids from wastewater in an aerobic environment, through the intervention of microorganisms capable of degrading it. Salher’s moving bed biofilm treatments (MBBR) are smaller treatment plants than activated sludge ones, where the biomass is fixed and grows attached to moving supports, under adequate agitation and oxidation conditions. Salher’s biomembrane biological treatments (MBR) combine filtration, aeration and clarification of the water in one step. Finally, biological treatments with Salher’s ceramic membrane ultrafiltration system combine a biological reactor and external ultrafiltration with inorganic membranes.
Biological wastewater treatments are very effective in industry, however, they have a high energy consumption. In order to reduce costs and offer more sustainable solutions, Salher has invested significant resources in optimising the wastewater treatment processes, including the energy efficiency derived from adding chemical pre-treatment systems before the wastewater treatment phase.
Salher especially recommends its Vespa equipment as a physical-chemical system before the industrial wastewater treatment line.
This cylindrical dissolved air float includes an Automatic Polyelectrolyte Preparation Unit that allows the preparation, maturation and dosage of the chemical solution with polyelectrolyte in a continuous and automatic way.
This combination of chemical pre-treatment, or physical-chemical treatment, with Salher’s biological wastewater treatment plants allows not only to control energy consumption, but also to reduce the volume of the equipment, facilitating the control and maintenance tasks of industrial wastewater treatment plants.
