Salher develops remote control systems to improve the performance and safety of water treatment plants
Water treatment plants are complex installations whose correct maintenance requires systematic monitoring to ensure that the processes are working properly. For this purpose, Salher offers its remote control systems, which make it possible to see in real time what is happening in the installations.
Salher’s electrical department offers a complete service: it designs the electrical diagrams and installations for the subsequent development of the control panel and the electrical installation of the treatment plant.
For better supervision in Salher’s water treatment plants, all signals are collected in a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and visualised by means of a SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
How does the Salher remote control system work?
With the field instrumentation, it is possible to visualize in real time what is happening in the installations, as it sends information on the functioning of the processes from the station to the control system. The equipment is composed of different screens where one can observe the signals of the states of the equipment that compose it with their alarm registers, with the ultimate aim of ensuring a more efficient and safe control.
For the remote control of water treatment plants, Salher includes a secure access system via modem, which allows Salher technicians to access the plant data for remote control. The technology used is constantly evolving and will depend on the budget available to each customer.
This remote control system allows Salher’s technicians to comfortably view all the parameters of the plant to ensure proper operation, optimize the maintenance of the quality of the treated water and minimize operating costs. Some of the parameters that are visualized are:
- Pump start/stop states
- Valve open and close states
- Equipment levels (m)
- Pressures (bar)
- Operating hours
- Parameter readings (Flow, pH, COD, Turbidity, Oxygen, ORP, …)
- Equipment failures
- Alarms
