The latest Salher drinking water treatment plant will be used in an agri-food industry in Paraguay
Salher has commissioned a drinking water treatment plant for Bimbo’s new factory in Paraguay. Through these technologies, the leading multinational bakery consolidates its sustainability objectives concerning water.
The scarcity of available drinking water is one of the main problems with water resources in Paraguay. This situation results from erosion caused by deforestation of river basins, the introduction of pesticides, the environmental effects of hydroelectric dams and the pollution from domestic and industrial waste.
For the treatment of water polluted by this industrial waste in Paraguay, Salher works together with RB Ingeniería. The two companies have recently collaborated on a project to treat drinking water in industrial processes.
In order to guarantee the water used in Bimbo’s bakery industry is safe and of high quality, Salher has opted for a line that includes a compact drinking water treatment plant using reverse osmosis technology.
Salher has also added an automatic disinfection station with sodium hypochlorite and pH adjustment to ensure the quality of the water, in compliance with the RD 140/2003 and RD 865/2003 regulations on drinking water and prevention of legionellosis.
Is water purification in industry possible?
The consumption of clean water in industry is very high and will depend on the type of production activity. Salher has been developing solutions for wastewater treatment in all types of industries for more than 45 years.
When we talk about drinking water treatment solutions in industry, they will always depend on the regulations and standards of each country and the indications of the World Health Organisation. However, the most common is that they refer to potabilisation solutions to treat surface or groundwater and that these comply with the quality standards required for each production process.
The relevance of water purification in the industrial sector is increasing. Access to clean water is increasingly limited, and for this reason, a higher number of companies are looking for efficient water purification solutions that guarantee that the quality and safety of their final product will not be affected.
On the other hand, governments and institutions around the world are imposing legal sanctions and high fines on companies that do not comply with environmental responsibility regulations.
INDUSTRIAL WATER REUSE
Salher is committed to sustainable development and works with companies all over the world to achieve it. That is why we always recommend that industries rely on our water reuse systems.
