Salher participates in a pioneering project for the transformation of waste into bioplastics

Salher has collaborated through ABAKAL Ingenieros in BIALAC project, a fully automated pilot plant to experiment with a sustainable solution to develop a new biomaterial based on whey from dairy industry waste and sludge from urban wastewater treatment plants.

The purpose of the project is to obtain bioplastics from renewable sources from the reuse of waste produced in the dairy industry and sludge generated in urban wastewater treatment plants.

BIALAC proposes a circular economy model through the conversion and recycling of urban and industrial waste into raw materials for the manufacture of new products. This project seeks to improve the quality of the whey and sludge generated to produce new, fully biodegradable food packaging.

Ecological and efficient solutions for a more sustainable future

In collaboration with ABAKAL Ingenieros Consultores, Salher has supplied an urban water treatment plant whose cost is amortized in less than two years, thanks to a system with low energy consumption.

The special feature of this plant is that it includes solar panels with a power of 2 kilowatts and a low energy consumption system with dissolved oxygen control and optimised programming, which allows a significant reduction in energy consumption.

Proyecto sostenible EDAR

This WWTP replaces an older and less efficient one. To do this, the existing space has been utilised, considerably reducing the magnitude of the installation works.

The new WWTP uses MBBR technology and includes a sludge thickening and digestion line, which reduces waste management costs. It also has a telematic control system.
