Water treatment projects including reuse systems are on the rise
Salher’s latest project to treat domestic wastewater generated by a student campus in Nigeria incorporates a reuse system for the irrigation of the complex’s green areas into the basic treatment line. In recent years, the commitment to this type of treated water reuse solution has grown exponentially.
Environmental experts and water treatment companies have long emphasised the importance of wastewater reuse in protecting the oceans and reducing the consumption of over-exploited freshwater sources.
Finally, implementers of such projects are beginning to heed this advice and are adding a reuse phase to their treatment plants, which costs less than the environmental impact of its implementation.
In the solutions it designs for water treatment in small and medium-sized towns, Salher recommends incorporating its reuse systems wherever possible. In its latest project of this type, a WWTP for a student campus in Nigeria for 10,000 population equivalents, the system chosen by Salher for the reuse of treated water is ultrafiltration by high efficiency membranes.
The treatment plant includes all the purification phases, with a pumping station, pre-treatment equipment, primary treatment, biological reactor, sludge treatment, electrical panel with PLC and instrumentation, all from Salher.
In addition, this EPC project included detailed engineering, including drawings and 3D representation of the plant and BIM modelling, as well as documentation in English.
